Being a task-oriented person, I always have a To-Do List on my desk. The problem is my list keeps growing and it takes longer and longer to cross things off. Last year I realized that I either needed to scale back on what I wanted to accomplish or add more staff.
Since adding additional employees is not in the county budget, the Marshall County SWCD Board approved applying for a Clean Water Indiana grant to fund a new position. In 2018 we were awarded the funds and in May of 2019, Erica Wyss was hired. Erica is a 2018 Purdue Agronomy graduate, with a concentration in Crop and Soil Management. She will focus on the Upper Headwaters Yellow River Watershed but is available to anyone in Marshall County looking for assistance. She is currently planning an August 29th pasture walk field day and working on a 319 grant application to receive cost share funds for projects that improve water quality. She will be at our booth in the Commercial Building at the 4-H Fair next month and would love for you to stop by and introduce yourself.
To register for the field day or for more information on available cost share funds, please contact the Marshall County SWCD office at 574-936-2024 x 3 or info@marshallcountyswcd.org.
